Dottys was born from a variety of factors commencing in 2020.

I’ve always cooked my Bichon Frise Simba home cooked meals from day 1 on “gotcha day” in July 2017, and slowly developed my craft.

Over the past 5 years have played with many recipes, using gravies, and various stocks, researched health and nutrition for dogs, spoken to my highly regarded vet, and benefits for all canines. I tried gravies and stocks to make ragouts etc, but kept going back to the traditional fresh natural products, no additives and no preservatives, to get to where we are today and the conception of Dottys Hooman Food for Dogs.

I’ve always cooked my Bichon Frise Simba home cooked meals from day 1 on “gotcha day” in July 2017, and slowly developed my craft.

Simba the Wonder Dog has never been sick in his life to this point, white dogs are susceptible to allergies and skin conditions and he is fortunate not to have had any negative illnesses or skin irritations. Whether this be fortunate or positive management and lifestyle choice I don’t know, but his lifestyle is varied to most bichons.

Simba walks 10km plus a day religiously, it’s our routine and so much pleasure, he is a taller bichon weighing approximately 10kg, he is a ball of muscle as he is fortunate to get to run leash off quite a bit, and he is quite the celebrity around Robina. In the wet he goes out white and comes back an array of colours, but it’s all nothing a quick warm shower can wash off and he love it. Whilst I love the fluffy bichon fries, Simba’s lifestyle & South east Queensland weather beckons him to be kept short as he IS a boy dog and gets into everything filthy.

Daily we pack a bag full of treats for the local dogs, and have used this as “testing products” before the conception of Dottys.

Simba has been such a companion and benefit to me also, pushing through cancer in 2020- 2022 with ongoing treatment. Simba giving me the inspiration to maintain my health to get through the heavy lifting of Chemotherapy & Radiation, and so grateful for having him to give me that support and motivation I can’t have seen myself doing without him in my life. And it was this personal illness that pushed me also to create Dottys Hooman food for dogs, taking me away from the rigors of hospitality management to enjoy my life and spend more time with Simba, rather than leave him home alone. And since contracting cancer, have certainly changed my thought process in life, and in my 50’s want to enjoy my future and provide for as many happy healthy pooches I can.

As a trained chef in my past life, I have created a range of products that are 100% natural and preservative free, offering a range of flavours our furry friends deserve. I truly hope you enjoy them, and more importantly your beloved pooch loves them.

The Inspiration to Dottys Hooman Food for Dogs

She then moved on to the exotic breed of the Bichon Frise with Ellese and Tiffany, both sisters, Ellese the mature dog, Tiffany the boss, who wouldn’t allow any male to get the better of her. (if you know what I mean) So Ellese was bred and produced her first litter of 7 pups. In which I was gifted the pick of the little Pebbles and due to being there for the birth and keeping the runt alive feeding him with a matchstick I asked if I could keep him as he was a bit special, he was Bamm Bamm. Bamm Bamm had a short but happy life as his cranium didn’t fully close over, he was special and beautiful.

Dotty and my dad Jimmy loved their dogs and they lived a charmed life in Hervey Bay Queensland, with an abundance of run free beaches to explore. The poochers loved to run free along the sand flats.

Then again in 2017 I continued the family legacy of raising Bichons, (well I’m raising one at present) sadly heartbreakingly they all pass, and I had a break prior to choosing Simba the Wonder Dog, another part of the inspiration of the business Dottys.

Dotty became a lover of poodles after larger German Shepherds and we as a family had an array of poodles, Firstly Pepe, then Natasha who she bred with, her first outing as a breeder, she did a grooming course to care for these fluff balls. Dotty always cooked for her dogs, always home cooking, always house dogs, always loved.
